All That’s Lost

The last time
Was my first try
To go someplace new
Where I hoped to stop thinking about you
And the soft embraces,
Capped off with delicate kisses.
I will miss your laughter
And dry sense of humor-
The way you smiled
When I acted like a petulant child.
I can’t recover all I’ve lost
Because it’s come at such a drastic cost,
But I will try to move on
And make it through to the dawn.
