“I know I’ve let you down. You’re much too kindhearted to ever admit it, but I am not without a little self-awareness here. You’re a parent and of course you have expectations for your kids. It’s natural and healthy. I don’t resent you for it. Quite the opposite. I resent myself for not having any goals or ambition. I’m just meandering and it’s obvious I’m headed nowhere.”
“What I need is some advice on my next step. Just the one step because I can’t see what to do now at all. Nothing has worked out for me-not the jobs, not school and not the girls. I need a new direction in life. What do I do, Mom?”
