The Wreckage

Tumult and lies.

A marriage burst apart

Right before your eyes.

You do all you can,

But betrayal cuts deep,

Even as you struggle to understand.

Men can’t be faithful and true.

It’s what your mother said

All those years ago to you.

You wanted to believe

Love could endure,

But now all you want is to be alone and free.
