Ignored Intent

It is time for me to go.

Subtle signs and more obvious aches

Tell me what I need to know.

A desperate call

Goes unanswered because the silence

Already tells me all.

Letters pile up on the table.

Missives from old friends

Who fear I’m unstable.

People have good intentions

It is simply that

They misunderstand my clear directions.

It’s not for anyone to feel remorse.

There’s nothing to be done

To alter this final course.
