There’s Always a Chance

You used to say “anything goes,”
Until it went.
And now you’re left deep in the throes
Of the dark turns and bad choices
That make up a life.
Down in the hole,
You’re lost and don’t want to try.
Giving in to misery,
You’re consumed by the tidal wave
Of grief and shame
But you’ve one last chance to save
Yourself and move on.
Take it now.
The spark of hope
Flickers for you, somehow.
Defy your history and learn to live again.
