Dreams Always Lie

A dream.
Immersive and welcoming.
Familiar in ways that make it seem true.
But your eyes burst open & you’re still you.

Anxiety returns
And reality sets in.
Life is a battle and you didn’t want to enlist.
You want out and you pray and you wish

To go back to sleep
And float on for hours.
A mind weaving stories and tricks
To help you escape the realm of the sick.

It can’t go on,
You have to get up
And accept your dreaded fate.
You’ll surrender again at the end of the day.
