Pathogen

It’s in the blood.
This immutable thing.
Replenishing, recycling
No matter how much I lose.

The invader in my veins
Coursing through me unimpeded
And there’s nothing I can do.
Genetics or just bad luck?
At the end of it all, the enemy is you.
