Solitary

Lonely so long I almost
Don’t recall what it is I’m missing.

Maybe that’s a sign
That can be read multiple ways.
“There is no hope when you are so alone.”
Or “Maybe you don’t need human contact
Anymore.” Part of me is shut down.
Closed off. Lost to the world.

Dysfunction or heartbreak. Trauma or
Shattered confidence.
At a certain point, it doesn’t matter.
You wait for the touch that never comes.
Cold and alone under the midday’s sun.
